The process of designing is completely digitalized. The entire pipeline network, the shafts and the heat stations are registered in a GIS environment. This allows precise insight in the location of the underground installations which is of common interest to other communal subjects as well. The Project Design Unit designs projects for main and secondary lines, connections (for sites to the network) and projects for reconstruction of existing pipelines. With the aid of an application developed especially for that purpose (on the basis of the GIS environment), simulations of different scenarios of delivery of heat are being carried out. The gained information for the hydraulic and thermal characteristics of the distribution network is particularly important from an operational aspect.
